#30Layers30Days – Day 20: “Impress Me”

When you write, talk or present yourself in any way — are you more focused on being authentic at all costs or are you more focused on impressing people and being accepted?  How much do you rely on feedback and compliments to feel good about yourself?

When it comes to my writing, I have grown so much. Each day I shed more layers, I dig a little deeper, growing more willing to use my craft as a tool to share my story. I am closer to trusting in the joy and contentment I feel when I read my words. The old me was concerned about your voice. Whether or not you would approve of the content I was willing to share concerning my journey.

In the past, I felt the need to highlight and embellish the positive while hiding the darkness. But no more!

I will no longer lean towards impressing you with embellished half-truths in order to avoid your judgement. I only look to impress me, to be taken by my displays of naked courage and candid vulnerability.

Now that I have developed a stronger sense of self and deeper level of love for me, your opinions and concerns no longer dictate the content of my craft.

I am responsible for my happiness. I choose how to respond to the views of others. Negative words and judgement’s do hurt, but we cannot allow them to control the joy & success that was intended for each of us to enjoy.

Even if no one else will, make a conscious choice to trust in yourself and to trust in the possibilities of your gift. The love and confidence you feel for yourself is POWERFUL & most definitely matters.

Until Next Time
