#LeadingLadyProject – Week 2: Self-Reflection


Hello Ladies – I hope week 1 was as enlightening for you as it was for me. Last week, I took the time to get quiet before God and really understand where I am spiritually and where I need to be. I know in my heart that God has some great things in store for me, but it is also my responsibility and #1 priority to seek His face & His will at all times. Last week, I also realized how much I need my quiet time. I need to know when to slow down and be alone with my thoughts. No technology, no music, no baby – just me and my thoughts! It’s so refreshing to just close my eyes, inhale, exhale and be grateful for the life floating through my lungs.

This week, our focus will be Self-Reflection. I believe it’s important that we take the time to center our minds and work towards eliminating any concerns or distractions keeping us from personifying the character of leading lady in our lives. As we reflect on our pasts, some may be challenged to forgive or release feelings of anger or bitterness.  Emotions like these slowly suffocate the light from our souls. It’s so important to recognize when negative feelings like these are attempting to take over your life.  We must push through any pain or harbored feelings of regret or un-forgiveness – whether it’s towards ones self or towards another.

Here are some key points to think about this week:

  1. Be honest with yourself. Honesty is key! Often times, we may be so ashamed of our pasts or present so much so that we hide behind the shame. We are unable to admit to ourselves when we’re wrong or if something or someone has an unhealthy hold over our lives. This week, let’s have the courage to be honest with ourselves and grow past any pain.
  2. Forgiveness . Trust me, I know forgiveness can be a hard gift to give. But one important thing to remember is that forgiveness is not for the other person, but for you! You are giving yourself permission to not allow the actions of another, or lack thereof, to interfere with your growth and healing. Release your heart, forgive & begin your journey to complete healing and restoration! 
  3. See the Joy. As we reflect, remember to see the Joy in your life. Be grateful for the little things! Our challenge this week will be to start a “Grateful Journal”. Everyday, write down three things that you are grateful for. It could be a person, something someone did for you, or your job. The challenge is you can’t use the same thing twice. This will force you to recognize all the blessings in your life instead of focusing on all the other stuff.
