#LeadingLadyProject – Week 1: Keep God First

Hello Ladies – Thank you so much for taking the time to visit & participate in the #LeadingLadyProject. My hope is at the end of these 5 weeks, we will be closer to embodying the character of Leading Lady in our lives.

This week, our focus will be to “Keep God First”

First, let me say that I am not an ordained minister nor do not claim to be an expert when it comes to matters of religion and ones relationship with God. All I can do is speak from my heart and rely on my personal experiences, hoping that I can encourage someone else who can relate to similar matters of the heart.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. – Philippians 2:12”

For me, this scripture does a great job of depicting this current season of my life. Having experienced many tests, trials and tribulations – I confess that my personal relationship with God is not where it should be, which is one of my reasons for starting the #LeadingLadyProject.

I want to restore life to what has been hiding behind walls of fear, shame and plain ol’ stubbornness. It is time for me to encourage myself and make myself accountable to my soul and my spirit. I must work out my own salvation with fear and trembling, no longer focusing on the potential thoughts and opinions of others.

I welcome wisdom and nuggets of golden insight and inspiration. But I will not receive your negative energy or bouts of condemnation.

This week will be the start of a life long effort to keeping God first in my life & discovering a personal relationship, free of religion & pretending!

I’m sure we all have dreams and aspirations that we want to see come to fruition, but without God as our backbone, we will not be able to experience life at its fullest & God intended potential.

I am learning that I must work out my own salvation without trying to be someone that I’m not. I must allow God’s spirit to work through me while staying true to who I am. I must also challenge myself to grow in service areas that may not come naturally to me, but will strengthen my ability to enact my calling and purpose.

Here are some Key Points to think about this week:

  1. Slow down & get quiet. Let’s reflect on the type of relationship we have vs. the one that we want & need. Write a prayer letter to God, speaking from you heart. Also, make sure to carve time out of each day to read and meditate on God’s word. Let’s make it a habit that we enjoy. Take the time to feed your spirit, even if it’s only for 10 minutes.
  2. Calling & Purpose. You were chosen for a time such as this! Understand that you were created for a purpose greater than your comprehension. You were created with Love and Passionate intent. Take the time to identify and understand your gifts & what God will have to do with those gifts. This week, let’s take the time to ask God for wisdom and clarity as we identify & become one with our calling and purpose. Here’s a spiritual gifts assessment that can help guide you through the process of identifying your spiritual gifts.
  3. Timing. Timing is everything! I am learning that I can pray and pray and pray, but if God knows that I am not ready for it, he will not allow something in my life that will tear me away from him. I need to be prepared and spiritually strong enough to receive the blessings He has in store for me and be able to handle it with care. Understand that God wants only the best for you, but Timing is everything!
  4. Accountability. Let’s make ourselves accountable! But it’s also important to find someone who is strong spiritually and can offer you another level of accountability as well. Find someone you can trust and depend on to be honest with you.

This week, it is my prayer that we are able to accept, release and renew a healthy and stronger spirit within ourselves. Let’s remind ourselves to Keep God First! Please feel free to share your thoughts or revelations this week. Or Tweet using the hashtag #LeadingLadyProject. I look forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Until Next Time Leading Ladies
